Kamal Amrit~ Heather

Kamal Amrit-Heather grew up in Sioux Falls, SD and moved to Colorado after she graduated from Nursing School at South Dakota State University in 2000. She feels very fortunate to live in Colorado because she loves being out in nature, hiking, practicing yoga, camping, paddle boarding, and snowboarding. The beauty and serenity of the mountain tops, whether it is a summer sunset or sunny winter day, holds a special place in her heart.

She also loves to learn about plants, crystals, astrology, alchemy, spagyrics and energy medicine.  Kamal Amrit-Heather was a Registered Nurse (RN) in the hospital setting in Denver for several years. She has always enjoyed helping others with their health, which is what has led her on her path of a variety of ways to be of service to others. For many years Kamal Amrit-Heather experienced inner ear congestion, which affected her hearing. After many medical exams and multiple medications, she became very frustrated when the problem persisted.

Luckily, one day, while sitting on her deck outside on a beautiful day reading a local mountain community magazine, she read an article about an Herbalist. After reading her profile, she was so intrigued and curious that she decided to make an appointment. Needless to say, that was the moment that changed her life forever. During her consultation, she found out that her ear congestion was likely being caused by Candida. Candida is a systemic overgrowth of yeast in the body. There are numerous symptoms that are caused by Candida, ear congestion is one of the not so common symptoms. Shortly after starting on a supplement program and making dietary changes, which included eliminating sugar, yeast, most grains and any processed foods, the ear congestion was gone and she felt the best she had in many years. She was so excited and fascinated because for three years, she had seen multiple doctors and two Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists, which all continued to prescribe allergy medications and eventually a steroid medication, Prednisone, that has many horrible side effects. None of the medications worked, in fact, the Prednisone worsened the condition. Knowing what she knows today, after all her training and experience with clients, she understands why the medications didn't help. They didn't address the root cause of the condition.

This success brought about a profound interest in nutrition, herbs and natural healing, so she enrolled in a Master Herbalist Certification program while working as an RN in the hospital. As Kamal Amrit-Heather became more aware of toxic ingredients in most products, she started reading the ingredients listed on organic and natural skin care products in the health food stores. She was appalled to find out that these products still contained toxic ingredients. This prompted her to start making a few products for herself and her family. It immediately became something that she was excited about and loved to do. All of her friends and family that had used the products she made kept telling her she needed to share them, so, what started out as a few facial care products along with some baby products has become a full blown product line ranging from healing herbal salves, a complete facial/skin care line, aromatherapy, herbal tinctures, herbal teas, herbal salves and creams, elixir truffles and granola bars.

Kamal Amrit-Heather and her husband, Keith, named their business Taspen's after their kids, Taylor & Aspen as they have inspired so many of their creations.  Kamal Amrit-Heather is an RN, Master Herbalist, CBP (Certified BodyTalk Practitioner), EVOX Practitioner, Satori Yoga & Kundalini Yoga Instructor.  She is studying Evolutionary Herbalism and Astrology to provide more tools to add to her toolbox.
